Rivers State, located in the southern part of Nigeria, has been experiencing political inertia for some time now. This is largely due to the unwillingness of two major political groups to reconcile. These groups, interestingly, are breakaway factions from the same political family, with a shared DNA that prioritizes group interests over the collective interest of the state.

Unfortunately, when people talk about Rivers State currently, they only discuss the political dynamics coming from these two political camps. This has left the majority of Rivers people feeling excluded from the political process. The need for an alternative political voice has become more apparent than ever.

In a bid to promote the development of alternative political discourse, The Rivers of Our Dreams Initiative (ROODI) has been established. This non-governmental platform is aimed at identifying leaders with social intelligence and a genuine interest in pursuing good governance, economic development, peace, and social cohesion.

The current political landscape in Rivers State has made it clear that the people need to take control of their own destiny. When investors see that Rivers people are ready to provide new leadership that adopts social perceptiveness and behavioral flexibility, investments will come. This will lead to economic growth, human capital development, and job creation for the people of Rivers State.

The idea of alternative political discourse is not new, but it is necessary. The people need leaders who are competent, God-fearing, and devoid of a history of corruption. The emergence of ROODI provides hope for those who have lost faith in the political system.

It is essential that Rivers people begin to develop a new political voice if they hope to achieve their full potential. This means breaking away from the current political status quo and embracing new ideas, new leaders, and new ways of thinking. The inertia that has plagued the state for too long can only be overcome by a new vision and a new direction.

The need for an alternative political voice in Rivers State cannot be overemphasized. The Rivers of Our Dreams Initiative (ROODI) is a step in the right direction. It is time for Rivers people to take control of their own destiny and create a brighter future for themselves and their children.

It is time for Rivers people to take control of their own destiny and create a brighter future for themselves and their children.

Revisiting my earlier thoughts.
